Our rug collection in collaboration with Designer Rugs was launched over a year ago and during that time we have used the collection in quite a few of our projects, so we thought we’d show them in situ. Some of the rugs have been used in different colour combinations as well as custom sizes, but overall we have found them to work well with our aesthetic – but perhaps that’s not surprising!
When introducing them into a client presentation, we are careful not to mention that they are our designs, as we think that could put undue pressure on our clients, but if they are accepted, we fess up and most clients are delighted to have an original H+K design in their interior.
The rugs, woven in Kathmandu, are hand dyed using a technique called ‘abrash’, that creates subtle colour variation and character, which means that each rug is unique. We’ve enjoyed the introduction of texture that the rugs bring to our interiors, creating depth and shadow – this is very much the signature of the range. Each rug is designed by a Hare + Klein designer, so the range is quite diverse.
