Every project is different, but essentially the kitchen is the core of the home, a hub for family life and often the centre for social connections. Hare + Klein’s kitchens are always designed to meet a specific client brief; we aim to balance the very important functional requirements with a beautiful aesthetic.
We believe that a great kitchen is functional, well planned and integrates quality appliances seamlessly. It is essential to make sure that all of the specified appliances and fixtures are well located to maximise functional and generous storage solutions. A well considered palette of finishes, including practical bench tops to cooking zones, in addition to meticulous design will yield a successful result.
Here is our take on a few of our favourite Kitchen Details…
Seamlessly Integrated Appliances
When recommending kitchen appliances, we often advise that you invest in the very best oven and cooktop that you can afford. For us, the ideal appliances are those that deliver cutting edge technology, exceptional quality and seamless integration into the joinery. We are big fans of Miele and are excited about their new ArtLine range that combines elegant, integrated handleless design with quality performance. We recommend taking advantage of the complimentary classes offered by Miele, for a few great recipes, but more importantly to realise the capability of the appliances beyond aesthetics.
An emerging trend in kitchen design is one of communal cooking, eating & socialising in the kitchen space. Designing large bench areas that combine cooking zones and plenty of seating connect those working in the kitchen with the social interaction of the home. A thoughtfully designed kitchen island with an attached dining table is often the approach when embracing this idea. Layers of solid, beautiful timber connected to stone bench tops, either at table or bench height, create the perfect integrated dining experience.
Feature lights over a kitchen island are a great opportunity to add detail, colour and texture to the space as well as providing much needed task lighting to a preparation, cooking or eating zone. Either multiple individual pendants can be used or a single linear style pendant.
If possible your feature lighting should be dimmable, the perfect way to create mood in the kitchen area when not in use.
The kitchen tapware needs to be beautiful as well as incredibly practical, a detail to be thoughtfully considered when finishing off a selection of appliances. One of our all time favourites is the KWC Eve tap. KWC taps offer our clients a tap with the highest technological standards combined with user-friendly ergonomics and a simple, refined aesthetic.
