This new residence, located on a Sydney Harbour beach, is home to two generations of a family. The brief was to create interactive as well as private spaces, with a restrained sophisticated palette – a house by the beach – not a beach house.

Our concept was to use elements to vertically intersect the expansive horizontal floor plan to create spaces that undulate between intimate and expansive. We introduced the furniture as a seamless extension of the refined interior design creating comfortable areas for the extended family.

There is an exceptional level of design detailing with every element from large volumes, concrete walls, joinery etc. aligned to the millimetre. Typically mundane elements (stairs handrails, sliding door handles) have been reimagined as sculpture within the built form. This level of interior design detailing is repeated in the furniture and furnishings.
