Woolwich House

Set on the Parramatta River in Woolwich, this residence responds to the dramatic fall from street level to the water’s edge. The brief was to create a contemporary family home that fully embraces the expansive views, while drawing together the original 1880s residence and a later pavilion addition into a cohesive whole.

The interior engages confidently with the home’s architectural framework, allowing spaces to transition naturally from one to the next. A sequence of interconnected rooms unfolds, each with its own role and character, shaped by the clients’ collections and way of living. Framed internal views create moments of connection between spaces, giving the floorplan a sense of flow and intimacy.

Throughout the home, texture, colour and materiality are layered with restraint and precision. Furniture selections respond to both scale and function, combining classic forms with richly textured fabrics to create a residential interior that feels sophisticated, welcoming and enduring.
